About the Event
I am inviting you to join my open online lecture devoted to the concept of Realism in Painting. There is a tremendous amount of contention around the term. For some, "Realism" is a positive idea, while for others it is negative, or altogether useless. In this lecture I will clarify the different meanings of the word "Realism" and will offer my answers to some widespread questions:
When can we say that a painting is realistic?
What qualities make a panting realistic?
What is the relationship between abstraction and representation of reality in art?
Welcome to join us!
Ilya Gefter
