Light is a central subject of naturalistic painting that is expressed by tones and colors. While tones lay the foundations for light, color can created nuanced and powerful qualities: natural or artificial, cool or warm, serene or dramatic, etc... Color is the central tool expressing all these sensations and many more.  
 
 In this one-day seminar you will learn how to express different types of light with a high degree of power and naturalism. The seminar will deepen your understanding of naturalistic painting and sensitivity color. 

The studio seminar offers a balance of theory and guided practice, and will provide many tool for continued personal exploration.

You will learn:

Combining the use of tone with color
Temperature of light and how it affects color
Seeing the color of light and shadow
Transitional colors between light and shadow
Responding to observed color with paint
Expressing the qualities of light

Methodology:

Lecture on theory of light
Examination of masterworks
Observation and analysis of reality 
Painting Demonstration
Guided practice (not available in zoom)
