Three - Day Painting Workshop
Instruction: Marik Lechner

We’re excited to invite you to a Painting Workshop under the instruction of the exceptional Israeli artist, Marik Lechner. Marik will guide the participants beyond technique into the experiential and expressive aspects of painting.
 
In painting, we move between opposites—between what is familiar and what surprises us, between what is visible and what lies beneath the surface, between everyday moments and the experience of the sublime.
 
Lesson 1: We will explore the tension between the familiar and the strange—how does something new touch an old memory? How can the familiar become mysterious?
Lesson 2: We will turn our gaze to the visible and the hidden—what exists between the lines, in the shadows, within the layers of paint?
Lesson 3: We will move between the sublime and the everyday—the contrast between the solid ground we walk on and the abyss that draws our gaze.
 
We will learn to look both inward and outward, to construct and deconstruct, to invite the impossible, and to connect form with meaning, movement with stillness, humor with seriousness. We will let lines and color patches tell our story.
You are welcome to bring the materials of your choice: paper, pencils, watercolors, charcoal, pastels, and more.
 
About the Instructor: 
Marik Lechner is an imminent Israeli painter.  Lechner's painting is characterized by fantasy, mystery and highly expressive use of the painting material. Lechner is represented by Givon Gallery in Israel, and also exhibits in Berlin and New York.
In 2007 he had a solo exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, at the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion, and in 2021 at the Herzlia Museum of Contemporary Art.
